Service Description

Awaken and align your body with this rejuvenating procedure that stimulates the formation of fibrous connective tissue with a precise injection of a mild irritant solution directly on the site of a torn or stretched ligament or tendon. Prolotherapy creates a mild, controlled injury that stimulates the body’s natural healing mechanisms to lay down new tissue on the weakened area. The mild inflammatory response that is created by the injection encourages growth of new ligament or tendon fibers, resulting in a tightening of the weakened structure. Additional treatments repeat this process, allowing a gradual buildup of tissue to restore the original strength to the area. The goals of prolotherapy are to improve support, improve function, and reduce pain. The indications for prolotherapy are nonspecific mechanical pain resulting from ligament or tendon injury from trauma, repetitive sprain injury, or collagen deficiency. The diagnosis is made on a clinical basis: pain from pressing on superficial ligament and joints or from patient history. The indication for prolotherapy may be pain that has failed to respond to other, more conservative treatments. For inflammatory conditions such as more severe joint pain, please refer to Prolozone. To help in regenerating tissue in severely torn ligaments, tendons, or cartilage, please refer to PRP (Platelet-rich plasma). **Phantom limb pain and other referred pain from surgical scarring also respond well to prolotherapy and reduce .
